VG10 STAINLESS

VG10 Stainless is given a designation used for a very particular type of high quality super-ultra-premium Japanese stainless steel. The G stands for “gold”, which refers to the “gold standard” that this level of cryogenically tempered stainless steel has met. VG10 provides a superior edge retention and it is a good choice for blades that require heavier cutting applications.

Cryogenic processing is a special type of a hardening process that involves cooling VG10 steels to temperatures lower than -300°F. The deep chilling of steel allows the metal molecules to be brought to “cryogenic stillness” to improve wear characteristics.
